Over 65 advocates, application assisters, legislators, and community partners gathered in Oklahoma City to participate in RCC’s most recent SNAP Prioritization Workshop hosted by the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Their collaborative work will guide Oklahoma’s SNAP advocacy efforts moving forward.

Why is SNAP in HB795, a bill about Medicaid?, an article written by Rachel Cahill, discusses how a piece of legislation would inadvertently harm working families on SNAP and could trigger hundreds of millions of dollars in payment error penalties. Rachel proposes a simpler solution to addressing fraud: modernizing Ohio’s EBT card to prevent benefits theft.
Thanks to publications like this and the tireless work of advocates in Ohio, the harmful language was ultimately removed from the bill, and chip EBT cards will roll out in late 2026.

Rachel Cooper and Katy Hitchcock of the RCC team recently travelled to Missouri to facilitate a SNAP Prioritization Workshop in partnership with the Missouri Foundation for Health and Empower Missouri. Over 60 advocates from across the state gathered to learn, share, and collaborate.
Together, the group established a clear set of policy and advocacy priorities aimed at strengthening Missouri’s SNAP program.
